Ingredients To Add To Enhance Your Vegan Waffles

9.7 million citizens in the US now follow a plant-based diet. While vegan products are becoming increasingly easier to source, finding easy and delicious solutions is still a task. So how do you make your vegan waffle mix even more delicious?

One way is by adding unique flavors. Read on as we discuss innovative flavors to add to your vegan waffle mix.

Ingredients to Add to Your Vegan Waffle

While a simple vegan waffle brand mix can be delicious, some additions really add interest. From luxurious flavors to tropical delights, we have some suggestions for everyone.

Stout

Using a dark beer in your waffle seems like a crazy idea. However, it is both mouth-watering and eye-catching. The most famous stout is Guinness, but a range of other dark beers are available that you can add.

Luckily, most stout is now vegan and has removed the use of isinglass in its filtration. This is gelatin derived from fish, often used in the brewing industry. If you go with another stout, make sure you choose one that does not operate using it.

When creating a stout waffle, replace some of the vegan milk with beer. If you are using our pre-made vegan waffle mix, then switch your cup of water for the beer.

Providing a slight umami body, it is rich and perfect when paired with something sweet. Dark chocolate is an excellent accompaniment, or fruity berries will work as well.

Pumpkin Spice

This is a very seasonal flavor, but for anyone who loves a pumpkin spiced latte when autumn comes, it will be an essential purchase. Served alongside a morning coffee, these waffles will be a great way to get the day started.

Luckily you don't need to go anywhere near a pumpkin, as most of this taste is made from a spice mix. Traditional pumpkin spice is made from ground ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. All this will make the mixture heavy, so it will need to be balanced out correctly to ensure a soft and fluffy pre-made waffle mix.

If you really want to add to the flavor, chopped pecans are another great addition. A dash of maple is another seasonal flavor that can work well. When served with a small dollop of ice cream, you won't be able to resist coming back for more.

Banana

Bananas are a great addition to vegan waffle recipes, as they are filled with goodness. Loaded with potassium, their tropical and exotic flavor also goes well with a range of toppings.

For real indulgence, try adding a caramelized flavor. The caramel gives an extra dimension but must be balanced so that there is not too much sweetness.

Gingerbread

Gingerbread is another seasonal flavor that evokes warmth and childhood memories. It is an extremely popular flavor, and luckily you can add its tastes to a waffle mix using a combination of ginger and molasses.

You only need a small amount of the molasses to get a big flavor, so it will take some experimentation. Less will give the taste of homemade cookies, while adding more will give luxurious depth and body.

To serve, adding the basics are the most fun. Suggest a dash of icing or vegan vanilla ice cream.

Whole Grains

Whole grains are not so much a flavor addition but one that will provide goodness to anyone eating vegan waffles. Wholegrains are classified as unrefined cereals. This provides fiber, and they are known to lower the risk of contracting several diseases.

As a vegan audience, you will undoubtedly be health-conscious, so adding whole grains is another way to pack your breakfast with goodness. You can combine them with a range of other flavors and use our delicious mix to ensure it remains quick and easy.

Vegan Waffle Recipes

The main ingredients that prevent a traditional waffle from being vegan are milk and butter. Replacing them makes a perfectly edible waffle. However, a few more changes can get a perfect texture on your vegan waffles that are both fluffy and crispy.

  • Soy or coconut milk
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • All-purpose Lehi Mills Flour
  • Baking powder
  • Sea salt
  • Brown sugar or maple syrup
  • Coconut oil or vegan butter
  • Vanilla extract

You will also need some tools. A mixing bowl, spatula, and waffle maker should be on hand.

Making the Vegan Waffle Mix

Start by mixing 1 1/2 cups of the milk you have chosen with vanilla extract in the mixing bowl. Add a dash of lemon juice and place it to the side for 5 minutes.

Sift 2 cups of flour. Add 1 tablespoon of baking powder and 1/2 a tablespoon of sea salt. Once sifted, add 1 tablespoon of the syrup or sugar, 1/4 cup of the melted butter or oil, and the milk mixture. You should gently mix this until they have just combined.

Heat your waffle maker, and then pour the batter into the middle of the waffle maker. Close the machine and let it cook. You can tell it is done when steam stops coming from the device.

Place them in an oven on low heat to keep them warm. You can then serve them with your choice of topping for a delicious vegan breakfast.
